Described by The New York Times as “an artist of supreme technical mastery, dazzling and fascinating with his highly cultivated sound”, Alberto Nosé is one of the most highly awarded pianists of his generation. He first distinguished himself on the international music scene at the age of eleven, when he won First Prize at the Jugend für Mozart International Competition in Salzburg.
A prizewinner in numerous competitions, including the Monte-Carlo Piano Masters 2015, New York Concert Artists 2012, Paloma O'Shea 2005 in Santander, Long-Thibaud 2004 in Paris, Maj Lind 2002 in Helsinki and Busoni 1999 in Bolzano, he was also a laureate of the F. Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2000. This launched an international career as a soloist and with leading orchestras at renowned concert venues including Carnegie Hall in New York, Southbank Centre in London, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Théâtre du Châtelet and Salle Pleyel in Paris, Auditorio in Madrid, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Hong Kong City Hall, Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, La Fenice in Venice and Santa Cecilia in Rome.
He has served as a jury member at numerous international piano competitions in Kyiv, Tbilisi, New York, Hong Kong, Helsinki, Budapest, Graz, Ljubljana and Warsaw, and is co-founder of the Amadeus International Competition in Lazise (Verona).
His debut album for Piano Le Magazine, featuring works by Brahms, Chopin, Liszt and Prokofiev, won several awards including CHOC du Monde de la Musique and La Clef from ResMusica. His CD of keyboard sonatas by J. Ch. Bach, recorded on a modern piano and released by Naxos, has been broadcast by Radio France, BBC 3, Radio 4 Netherlands, Radio New Zealand and ABC Classic FM in the USA and Australia. His third album, featuring Schumann’s Symphonic Études and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet for Harmonia Mundi, won the Diapason d'Or. Since 2019 he has been the founder, artistic director and producer of Amadeus Sound Project, an independent record label that releases all of his new recording projects.
Invited to give advanced courses around the world, he has served for several years as a guest professor at the Geneva Conservatory of Music, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and the Mannes College of Music in New York, as well as a principal lecturer at the Music Academies of Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz.
His musical education began at the Verona Conservatory and continued at the International Piano Academy of Imola. His artistic training was subsequently enriched by studies with Maurizio Pollini, Murray Perahia, Andrzej Jasinski, Paul Badura-Skoda, Michael Beroff, Alexander Lonquich, Arie Vardi, Fou Ts'ong and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. He is currently Professor of Piano at the Verona Conservatory of Music and at the Amadeus Academy in Valeggio sul Mincio.
