Born in Moscow in 2004 and holding Armenian and Russian citizenship, Eva Gevorgyan has been winning prizes from a very young age in more than forty international piano competitions in the United States, Europe and Russia. Her achievements include first prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Artists in 2018, first prize at the Robert Schumann Piano Competition in Düsseldorf, and second prize and the Press Award at the Van Cliburn Young Artist Competition in 2019. More recently, she received the Prix du Bern in Switzerland in 2023, the Grand Prix at the Russian National Orchestra Competition in 2021, and the ICMA – International Classical Music Award in the “Discovery of the Year” category in 2019. In 2021 she was also the youngest finalist at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
Her major recent engagements include her debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in Australia and recitals at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatory for the Società dei Concerti, as well as collaborations with orchestras including the Yomiuri Symphony and Sapporo Symphony in Japan, Kammerakademie Potsdam, Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, George Enescu Philharmonic, Filarmónica de Málaga and Orquesta de les Illes Balears. She has also performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra of St. Petersburg, Russian National Philharmonic and many other prestigious international ensembles.
She has been conducted by, among others, Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Spivakov, Vasily Petrenko, Lawrence Foster and Michele Mariotti. She has appeared at major festivals including Verbier, the White Nights in St. Petersburg, Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico, La Roque d’Anthéron in France, the Bach Festival in Montreal, and the Brescia and Bergamo International Piano Festival. In 2020 Evgeny Kissin awarded her the prestigious Klavier-Festival Ruhr scholarship, and in 2021 she received the title of “Yamaha Young Artist”.
Her other distinctions include the Grand Prix and Special Prize for the best interpretation of Chopin at the Chicago International Music Competition (2020), first prize at the Jeune Chopin Competition in Martigny and, in Italy, the Grand Prix at the Giuliano Pecar Competition in Gorizia (2016) and the Junior Prize at the Eppan Junior Piano Academy (2017). Eva continues her studies at the Central Music School of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Natalia Trull and at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid under the guidance of Stanislav Ioudenitch. Her first CD, featuring works by Chopin and Scriabin, was released by the Melodiya label in 2022.
