Concert pianist and teacher Olivier Gardon has built a career in which performance and teaching mutually enrich one another. Trained by exceptional masters – Pierre Sancan, György Sebök, Lili Kraus and Jean Fassina – he has won prizes at prestigious international competitions, including the Marguerite Long Grand Prix at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, as well as the Viotti, Monza, Casella and Senigallia competitions.
His international career has taken him to some of the world’s leading concert halls, including the Barbican Centre, Royal Festival Hall, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Großes Festspielhaus in Salzburg and Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo.
His discography encompasses a broad repertoire of solo and chamber music, ranging from Beethoven, Liszt, Schumann and Brahms to Debussy, Vierne and Charles-Valentin Alkan; his latest CD, featuring a program of Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy, was released this year.
He currently teaches at the École Normale de Musique de Paris-Alfred Cortot, having previously served as professor at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover and the CRR in Paris. Invited around the world to give masterclasses (Tokyo, Seoul, Salzburg, China, Germany, Spain, Portugal, etc.), Olivier Gardon closely follows the development of young talents who regularly win prizes at international competitions.
